Irish Cancer Society Offering Free Health Checks

We are delighted to share an upcoming FREE service from the Irish Cancer Society. On Wednesday 20th, Thursday 21st & Friday 22nd October  (9am – 7pm) in Merchants Quay, Cork the Irish Cancer Society is offering free, confidential consultations.

The reason the Irish Cancer Society is running this nursing outreach programme is because although they and other organisations have redoubled their efforts to urge people to attend general practice, they are increasingly concerned that not everyone with a health concern has sought medical advice yet. Oncologists are telling us that they are seeing later stage cancers being diagnosed because of delayed presentation and the Irish Cancer Society wants to do everything they can to mitigate this.

Their campaign, ‘Your Health Matters’, is supported by the National Cancer Control Programme (NCCP) and the National Screening Service.

Who can attend?

This is a walk-in service being run by specially trained nurses who will be available for free, confidential consultations with members of the local community throughout the day. The free walk-in service requires no booking & includes a blood pressure check, body mass index (BMI) and carbon monoxide (CO) reading.
